Home Dialysis Options
We have two home dialysis options available:
- Home hemodialysis (HHD): You can use a portable hemodialysis machine at home on a set schedule.
- Peritoneal dialysis (PD): You remove waste from the body using a special fluid (dialysate) and the peritoneal lining of the abdomen. There are two types:
- Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD): The patient manually exchanges the fluid 3-4 times a day without a machine.
- Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD): The patient uses a machine called a cycler to automatically exchange the fluid, usually while you sleep.
